What My Kids Want

It's hard to understand what my kids want, which makes shopping for a present or gift for them even harder. I tried everything, shamefully spying on their Facebook accounts, seeing what their friends' parents bought, everything.

For a while I shopped for cheaper prices on goods. eBay and DubLi became my best friends, and soon I had built such a collection of useless things in my garage that the kids didn't want that I considered buying stock in the Sports Authority and Razor Scooters.

So instead of wasting money on gifts that they hate, I decided to let them choose for themselves. It was a great thing. Not only did I get to save my time, but they get the joy of getting exactly what they want, and they learn a little responsibility in using their money wisely.

Better yet, using the points I have racked up using my credit cards and on shopping sites like DubLi, it costs me practically nothing, and the dollars I save go to paying off those credit cards, or into savings for our next vacation.

In fact, I encourage my kids to shop at the sites like DubLi, where they can use the points I have earned, and shop around until they find the best price on what they are looking for.

My older kids like the auctions, I think they believe it to be a game of sorts, trying to get what you want without letting the price get to high. The younger ones have taken to the online mall at the DubLi network, where they can shop all sorts of stores together, and spread their money across a wide array of products.

After all, it is all about them anyway, and this way, they not only get the present they really want, but they get to enjoy the process to. And it gets me some time with my boys, which I would never complain about.
